BEERS & JEERS PLAYER GRADES

The Cult of Hockey Grading System:
10 perfect game,  9 extraordinary,  8 great,  7 good,  6 above average,
5 average,  4 below average,  3 poor,  2 terrible,  1 deserves to be in minors.

#2 JAMES VANDERMEER - (4) JEERS He played limited minutes with 11:37. He was -1 and did very little to help the team. Really, what more do you expect at this point?

#4 TAYLOR HALL - (7) BEERS He made some great plays tonight. He used his speed well and managed to pick up an assist AND score the game winner. WooOooOoo! Two point night for the rookie. H had 4 shots. His bad side? 3 giveaways. That will happen I guess when you play reckless like Hall.

#5 LADISLAV SMID - (6) He was back for his first game and didn't look 100% ready. Very rusty. He was nailed good twice and he seemed to play timid for most of the game. He was OK, just not himself. He had a team worst, 4 giveaways.

#6 RYAN WHITNEY - (6) I don't know how he logs so much time and yet registers nothing for stats? 1 missed shot, 1 blocked shot and 1 giveaway, yet he played 26:16. Go figure.

#10 SHAWN HORCOFF - (7) He had a great game on the faceoffs. He went 11/9 for 55%. Team best. He finds a way to play his game when he plays with hall and Eberle. Tonight was no exception. While only 3 shots hit the net, he took 9 shots in total. I say never take him off of this line.

#13 ANDREW COGLIANO - (8) BEERS I bust his balls a lot and I have to give him credit. When most people would be in the hospital or in bed, Cogs in out there busting his ass playing hockey with a busted face. He wore a full face shield and was a huge reason the Oilers had a great start. He was in on the first goal but no assist and scores the Oilers second goal. He was making stuff happen all game long.

#14 JORDAN EBERLE - (7) Another good game for the rookie. So poised and composed. Love this kid. He made some good things happen tonight and was awarded with an assist on the Hall winner. That goal happened because of Ebs hard work.

#16 COLIN FRASER - (2) JEERS So-so. He was the weak (can't believe I thought Jacques was better) link on the 4th line. He found himself 45 seconds of PK time, but only played 8:07. Other than skate up and down the center, what does he do to contribute?

#22 JF JACQUES - (3) JEERS He had a couple of big hits and had a shot. I thought Jacques was so coveted by the Oilers because he was physical? He's not living up to the billing.

#26 KURTIS FOSTER - (3) JEERS He was -1 and tried to make stuff happen, but always seemed to come up short. He took 4 big shots, but all were blocked. He needs to find better openings. He's always firing shots off, but unless you or your teammates are scoring, your doing jack squat.

#27 DUSTIN PENNER - (8) BEERS He might have played one of his best games tonight. He was emotional and he played with passion. Much like the Penner from last year. He picked up an assist and was +2. Out of all the Oilers, he played great all game long.

#28 RYAN JONES - (4) He was pretty average. Not sure how to grade him as he only played 9:04. I didn't hate his playing, but nothing stuck out as good. 1 shot and 1 hit. Big deal. His line was burned for a goal against and I could see that coming before the game started. Hated this line combo.

#29 MARTIN GERBER - (6) His only start of the season and he gets and assist and a win. He made 35 saves and he made one huge save to keep the game tied at 2. And to think I said it was crazy to have him in instead of Dubnyk. He did have 3 giveaways. Count that up as jitters?

#33 STEVE MACINTYRE - (0) DNP (Healthy scratch)

#35 NIKOLAI KHABIBULIN - (0) DNP (Injured)

#40 DEVAN DUBNYK - (0) DNP (Healthy scratch)

#43 JASON STRUDWICK - (0) DNP (scratch)

#45 SHAWN BELLE - (0) DNP (Minors)

#46 ZACK STORTINI - (6) BEERS He was hitting everyone he could. It seemed like very shift he was trying nail someone. He did get credited for 2, but he had way more than that. He also had 2 takeaways. By Stortini's standards, he had a good game, minus a fight.

#49 THEO PECKHAM - (7) BEERS He was 3rd star and he laid some huge hits in this game. Very impressive that when the team is called out, the rookies step up the most, including Peckham. He was credited with 6 hits a high for both teams. He finished +2.

#67 GILBERT BRULE - (7) Brule scores the Oilers first goal and keeps the fine play up all game. Both of his linemates were on fire tonight and that helped Brule keep it all going. He made some great plays and really tried hard to be productive.

#77 TOM GILBERT - (8) BEERS He was on the ice for a few goals tonight. Only once did he make me curse. He ended the night +2 and had 2 assists.

#83 ALES HEMSKY - (0) DNP (Injured)

#89 SAM GAGNER - (3) JEERS He knocked in the Avs first goal and was -1. His only good quality tonight was his 3 shots on goal. But his overall hockey game sucked. He played 15:37 and was 50% on faceoffs.

#91 MAGNUS PAAJARVI - (6) He did find his game a little bit tonight. His legs looked quicker. He started the Oilers momentum swing right before Hall scored the winner. He took 3 shots.

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

--------------------

THE MEAT AND POTATOES

The Good:

- Dustin Penner took this team and ran with it. He was awesome! He had a goal and two assists in the 16:44 of ice time. I really hope we get the same guy next season. With a healthy team, adding a great player like Penner to it, it could only be great. Right? Right?!?

- Ryan Whitney scores the overtime winning goal all while not so silently leading the defensive corps. This guy has been a great pickup for the Oilers and some people are starting to think he's captain material. He had 5 shots to go with that goal but his best stat is his 27:25 of ice time. Maybe he should be the captain? He says and does all the right things. Hmmmm....

- Tom Gilbert once again played pretty good as he had two assists. I am starting to wonder if it's just Gilbert being good and figuring out the game, or is it just Whitney helping him look good.

- Andrew Cogliano was once again solid. He scored a goal and had an assist for a two point night.

- Mike Comrie had a chance at the end of the game to put it away. He didn't and it went to overtime. But he did score a goal earlier in the game and played OK. I like Mike. I've just always wondered why he's been the low minutes guy and not top six.

- Well, that sure was a great way to end the season at home. I'm sure the fans in attendence appreaciated it. GOILERS!!!

The Not So Good:

- Jeff Deslauriers was not very good tonight. He was flip flopping all over the place and never really looked comfortable in net. He's lucky the team won this game.

- Jason Strudwick is a really funny guy and he is a good teammate. He's just not very good at hockey. He made his usual three or four errors and overall, he didn't look very able out there. Amazingly enough, Quinn still had him out there late in the 3rd during a tie game. That Pat Quinn has a big set of nards.

- The Oilers lost 53% of the faceoffs tonight. I sure hope Tamby does something in that category. It's quite clear we can't go within the organisation for help.

- Dean Arsene was the only Oiler to take a penalty tonight. Mind you, he did it twice.

The Side Dish:

- No side dish tonight

Daily News & Rumors (Gainey/Sutton/Colaiacovo/Whitney)

First off, I would like to wish the Oilers luck tonight in their matchup against the Coyotes.  It should be a low scoring game (every Oilers game is).

According to Chris Botta of Islanderspointblank.com, the New York Islanders are receiving calls on Defenseman Andy Sutton. It is unknown if they are willing to trade him.

Canadiens GM Bob Gainey has stepped down as GM of the Montreal Canadiens, Pierre Gauthier will take over.

According to Andy Strickland the St. Louis Blues have made it known that Defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo is available.

According to Adrian Dater, Defenseman John Michael Liles will be a healthy scratch yet again. It is believed that the Colorado Avalanche are currently shopping him.

It looks like there are several teams still interested in former Oiler Ray Whitney.  It appears the Kings, Bruins, Sabres and Flyers are leading the way.

Player Grades - Cult of Hockey - Oilers vs Avalanche Recap (2/6/10)

Once again, David Staples at the Edmonton Journal has asked me to contribute to the Players Grades for his Cult of Hockey blog. How could I say no? I love the Cult of Hockey. So here they are.

Brule and Nilsson are sitting once again. I really don't understand why Brule is sitting. His chemistry with Penner is uncanny and with both of those guys struggling, you would think Quinn would put them together. When they have been together, they score.

Who knows, maybe Quinn is the actual ship Captain behind the Dive For Five?

The main reason the Oilers lost this game tonight is because the defence had no cohesion with the forwards. They couldn't get out of their own zone even if their lives depended on it. That was probably the most frustrating part of the game for me to watch.

The most shocking stat I found was that the Avs had more giveaways (14-7) than the Oilers did. What you say? How is that possible? I don't know?

With another loss, the "Quest for the Best" continues...

The Cult of Hockey Grading System: 10-perfect game, 9 extraordinary, 8 great, 7 good, 6 above average, 5 average, 4 below average, 3 poor, 2 terrible, 1 deserves to be in minors.

Player Grades

#38 Jeff Deslauriers (8) - He was by far the best Oiler tonight. He made some great saves and had some help from the posts. He did everything he could to keep this team in this game. His only weak spot of the game was the 2nd goal. JDD was weak on that goal. But you can't fault him for the loss. He was great and the Oilers didn't score.

#27 Dustin Penner (3) - He was a non factor for most of the game. His only real visible attribute tonight was his ability to handle the puck along the boards. He did that well. But that's it. He was slow, lazy and ineffective. Even more so when Gagner left the game.

#89 Sam Gagner (4) - He left the game after the 2nd period with soreness on his knee. He did go 3W-0L for faceoffs before leaving after only playing 9:37. In that short time, he had 2 shots and that's about it.

#13 Andrew Cogliano (4) - He was mostly invisible. At times he was doing what he was supposed to do, but mostly he did squat.

#19 Patrick O'Sullivan (3) - While he did take shots (5 shots), none hit the net. What good is a shot if it doesn't reach the net? He did nothing to help his line mates and was ineffective. I'm willing to bet that if he wasn't on the block, he'd be sitting.

#16 Ryan Potulny (5) - While he tried hard, his effort came up short. He had 2 shots and 2 blocked shots. He did have a team best 8W-6L for 57% on faceoffs. He was definitely not the worst Oiler tonight.

#91 Mike Comrie (6) - He wasn't afraid to take the puck to the net. He did that very well. He was the real leader on that 2nd line. He played pretty decent and I would have thought that he would have received more ice time (15:57).

#18 Ethan Moreau (5) - He was pretty decent. I know, strange for me too. I have noticed that since he has taken off the visor and has been lined up with Horcoff and Pisani, he's been good. Who would have thought that? I didn't. Moreau had 5 shots and 2 hits and wasn't a big liability.

#10 Shawn Horcoff (4) - He even had a glorious chance with just over 5 minutes left in the 3rd and he just couldn't do it. *sigh* He really isn't earning his money this year. Not even close. While he is a real good 3rd line center, he's not a $5.5 million cap hit. He was a measly 39% on the faceoff dot and only had one shot. He was out played by Moreau. Now that's sad.

#34 Fernando Pisani (4) - While Pisani wasn't a standout, he wasn't a complete bum either. He played his position well, but never registered a stat other than his one shot and one missed shot.

#22 JF Jacques (3) - I didn't like his game much. He always seems to look good in the 1st period and then disappear for the rest of the game. He did it again tonight. 1 hit and 2 blocked shots. That's it.

#78 Marc Pouliot (3) - He was promoted to the 1st line after Gagner left the game but he didn't do anything to impress.  He had one takeaway and one missed shot. He was also a team worst -2.

#46 Zack Stortini (3) - Zack who? Unless it's a rough game he's useless. He can't contribute if there is no mouthing guys off and getting in scrums. This game didn't have any of that and therefore made Storts insignificant.

#77 Tom Gilbert (7) - He has been, in my opinion, the best guy on defence for the oilers in the past few weeks. He's been playing a quiet and mistake free games. He, for the most part did that tonight. While he did have a giveaway, he had a team high, 8 blocked shots. To top it off, he also had 2 takeaways and 2 hits. I really like the way he plays and I would be disappointed if the Oilers trade him.

#37 Denis Grebeshkov (6) - He also played pretty well. He played a ton of minutes and held his own against the speedy Avalanche. He didn't register a shot on net and that is something he needs to work on. Not much point having a guy that doesn't shoot on a PP. He was also a little responsible for the 2nd Avalanche goal. He defensive coverage was not working at that moment.

#71 Lubomir Visnovsky (5) - He was a 50/50 guy tonight. No, not selling the tickets in the stands. It was more of a go to one end of the ice and look good, then skate back to the other end and look like a Bantam player. He was frustrating to watch. He somehow managed to escape a giveaway stat.

#41 Taylor Chorney (5) - Chorney was OK. Nothing to write home about. He would be better if he hit more. He did have 3 blocked shots.

#43 Jason Strudwick (4) - Slow, clumsy, awkward. That's Strudwick for you.

#48 Alex Plante (4) - He's a rookie who makes the simple rookie mistakes. He was fumbling the puck and seemed like he was panicking out there. He did have 4 hits and that's great to see. Hitting is going to be his attribute in this game.

Hockey Night In Canada LIVE TweetCast - Oilers vs Avalanche (2/6/10)

Welcome folks. I figured before this game gets rolling, I would share some of the things I see in the cyber world. Some are intriguing and some are so far off it's laughable.

From @nhlrumor on Twitter:
1) Two trades that Oilers are talking to teams about: Note: THESE ARE NOT CONFIRMED DEALS.
2) Visnovsky to Boston for Ryder, Colbourne, 4th round pick.
3) Horcoff, 4th round pick to Florida for Olesz, Shore. Something along the lines of those two.

Smokin' Ray says: OK. First, that is not enough value for Visnovsky. He's worth more than an average player like Ryder and he is definitely worth more than a 4th round pick. Make that a 2nd round and the deal is done in my opinion. Second, NO ONE IS GOING TO TAKE HORCOFF!!! Quit dreaming.

From @EklundsSource on Twitter:
1) Also hearing Ethan Moreau and Fernando Pisani to the #Caps David Steckel may be involved. (es3)
2)Gretzky gets interviewed by the #BlueJackets for the coaching position? 4 people on the short list including Wayne. (es2)

Smokin' Ray says: None of it can be true. Can it?

ROAD TRIP!!! Oilers in Denver to take on the Avs

The Oilers practiced today in Denver and the lines stayed the same as the last game against the Wild. Brule and Nilsson skated with Bucky today so it looks like they won't be in the game tomorrow night against the Avalanche. Expect Jeff Deslauriers to start in goal.

Word has it that Ladislav Smid and Steve Staios may be coming back soon. But don't expect them back too soon as Quinn seemed less than impressed with their conditioning. Mind you, they are in the Mile High city and from what I have heard, it's hard on the system being that high.

With those two close to returning, I would suspect that the Oilers won't try and claim Nick Boynton who is on re-entry waivers. I think he would be a good pickup, but the Tambo wants to subtract, not add at this point.

Don't forget that with the 2010 Olympics coming up soon, we will need to forget about the Oilers and start booing some of our beloved players. Visnovsky? BOOOOO! Grebeshkov? BOOOOO! Pronger? Boo... damn it. Yay!

I can't wait for the Olympic games to start and I fully expect Canada to win gold in both the Men's and the Ladies Ice Hockey events. GOCANADAGO!

Don't forget that the Oilers play the Avs on CBC's Hockey Night In Canada this Saturday night.

Paq's Thoughts

WOW! What a stinker, but I guess that is to be expected when the top line is Potsy, Pens and Nilsson. I mean, in the off season all 3 wouldn't have been missed if the Oilers dealt them. The Oilers had their moments but the Avs were there to bury every chance they got. The Oilers didn't. Welcome to the rebuild. Be prepared for more of this, as it will get worse before it gets better. Patiance will pay off. Game Grade: D

------------------

BEERS

Lubomir Visnovsky - A solid game by Lubo.  He only made one error and other than that he was great.  He picked up 2 assists and was a +3 at the end of the game.  If it wasn't for the error, it was a perfect game.  Here's a nice cold Bud. Cheers!

Ales Hemsky - He also played one heck of a game.  He was making crisp passes and fairly decent decisions.  He scores a goal and adds an assist for a two point night.  He's starting to catch Penner in points.  You know he's playing well when he fires 4 shots at the goalie.  It's Old English time! Paper bag and all.  Cheers!

Dustin Penner - The big guy may not have had any points, but he did good.  His screening is top notch and he's been pretty good in the crease area.  Never mind the fact that he is leading the team in faceoff wins.  Can he do it all?  A Pilsner for the Manitoba boy.  Cheers!

HONORABLE MENTION(S): Sam Gagner (He scores a crucial goal and gives the team life.), Patrick O'Sullivan (He gets the monkey off his back and scores the game winner.), Ryan Potulny (The hard work pays off and he pots the tying goal.), Ladislav Smid (His +3 was a team best.  He's plays so mean it's fun to watch.), Gilbert Brule (He's been good for a few games now.  He had a goal and an assist.), Sheldon Souray (He sent a message to the Avs that fae hitting in not cool.  He played pretty good.)

------------------

JEERS

Tom Gilbert - He was brutal.  The first two goals were on his shift and both times he was weak at taking out his check.  Quinn then benched him for awhile and then gave him another chance where he picked up an assist on the Potulny goal.  Let's hope he understands the message.  For a bad game, Boooooo!

HONORABLE MENTION(S): Jeff Deslauriers (He needs to smarten up and learn how to be sharp more consistaanly.)

-------------------

GOAT WATCH

(Smokin' Ray) Ethan Moreau - He was playing ok... till his bell was rung.

(Paq Twinn) Robert Nilsson - Still not playing because of his concussion.

-------------------

OUR GAME SUMMARIES

Smokin' Ray - What a game by the Oilers.  They were crappy for half a game and then funally picked up the pace and pulled out the win.  Deslauriers needs to play more so he doesn't look so rusty.  Besides, I thought he was going to play 20-25 games this year?  I'm hoping the Oilers can get it together in time for the Chicago game.  They have a history of beating the Oilers. Badly.

Paq Twinn - Ya, good win boys. Oilers started slow but got stronger as the game went on. JDD let in some bad ones, but didn't let in the "next one", when the team was making their come back. That was HUGE. Speaking of huge, the PK had some timely kills. The PP continued to be Hot/Cold, tonight it was cold. The 1st line didn't play well in general tonight. Brule had a good game as did Smid, Penner, O'Sullivan, Gagner and Potulny. But pretty much everyone looked average. No one stood out to me tonight. Game Grade B.

B&J #80 Edmonton Oilers Recap vs. Avalanche (11/08/09)

Welcome to Oilers Jambalaya - An Edmonton Oilers Hockey Blog. Beers & Jeers is a dual collaboration between Smokin' Ray and Paq Twinn. We hope you enjoy our Edmonton Oilers full game recap.

------------------

- Hemsky, Jacques, Smid, Souray, Horcoff, Pouliot, and Stone are all injured so the Oilers called up Ryan Potulny and Liam Reddox.  Both will play in this game.

- I really am getting concerned with all the games that they have Khabibulin playing in so far.  He's only supposed to play around 55 games and he's on pace for a lot more than that.

------------------

GOAT WATCH

(Smokin' Ray) Ethan Moreau - He was average.  Nothing I could really get mad at.  But seeing a guy like Potulny, it makes me want to get rid of him that much more.

(Paq Twinn) Robert Nilsson - He played ok.  He had an assist and probably didn't piss off Quinn much tonight.  But he still sucks.

------------------

GAME STAT LEADERS

Goals - Cogliano, Potulny, Penner, Gilbert, Comrie (1 each)
Assists - Nilsson, Potulny, O'Sullivan, Staios, Penner, Grebeshkov, Visnovsky, Gilbert, Reddox, Gagner (1 each)
Points - Potulny (2), Penner (2), Gilbert (2)
Best +/- - Staios, Pisani, Strudwick, Reddox (All +1)
Worst +/- - Chorney (-3)
Penalty Minutes - O'Sullivan, Grebeshkov, Strudwick, Stortini, Comrie (All had 2 minutes)
Most Time On The Ice - Penner (22:30)
Least Time On The Ice - Stortini (10:31)
Most Shots - Potulny (5 shots)
Most Hits - Reddox (4 hits)
Most Giveaways - Potulny (2 giveaways)
Most Takeaways - Nilsson, Potulny, Grebeshkov (All had 1)
Most Blocked Shots - Staios (4 blocked shots)
Best Faceoffs - Gagner (12W-7L= 63%)
Worst faceoffs - Brule (2W-6L=25%)

------------------

BEERS

Tom Gilbert - He actually looked like a legit NHL player tonight.  He made very little mistakes and was actually good.  Like real good.  I was shocked.  He scores his 1st of the season and also picks up an assist.  Stellar performance for a guy that has not been good in my eyes this year.  It's about time.  How about a Molson Canadian? Cheers!

Ryan Potulny - For a call up he rocked.  He scores on the PP and picks up an assist.  He was really good.  Maybe it was just the excitement of being called up, but he sure looked ready for the chance.  He's even rockin' a Movember mustache.  Sweet.  Great stuff tonight Potsy.  How about a first ever beer from B&J?  Cheers!

Patrick O'Sullivan - I was glad that he at least picked up an assist.  He's been busting his hump this year and has been snake bitten for the most part.  He took three of shots and really tried to do all the little things right.  He had 3 blocked shots and played an enormous 22:18 of ice time.  It think he's thirsty after that game.  How about a frosty Coors lite?  Cheers!
Sam Gagner - With Horcoff out, Gagner steps in and shows why he is the future of this franchise.  Not only did he pick up an assist, he ran the PP with ease and dominated in the faceoff circle.  Wow!  The guy stands up once again and says "Here I am, take notice".  Great game Gags.  It's Miller Time. Cheers!

Dustin Penner - He just keeps adding to his point totals.  Two more points tonight with a goal and an assist.  Am I surprised anymore? No.  Penner for Team Canada!!!  It's Bud chuggin' time.  Cheers!

HONORABLE MENTION(S): Zack Stortini (The big guy started the emotion early and played well.), Liam Reddox (Not a bad night for the MacT fart sniffer.  He picks up an assist and had a team high, 4 hits.), Mike Comrie (The Duffman played good.  But like I said at the beginning of the season, he's only good in the first half of a game.), Lubomir Visnovsky (He was good.  He maybe missed Smid out there a little.  He's just such a fast skater it's crazy.), Jason Strudwick (He was physical and played ok. 2 hits and  3 blocked shots), Steve Staios (+1 and an assist.  He does that and 4 blocked shots.  Where's the real Steve?), Andrew Cogliano (He scores a goal and breaths a sigh of releif.  The Oilers need more games like this from him.)

------------------

JEERS

Taylor Chorney - He played ok, but finished the game a team worst -3.  Maybe it was because Quinn has a lot of confidance in him right now and he was out a lot.  But to beat a team 5-3 and still end the game at -3 stinks.  That means you were on the ice for every goal against.  Not a good night in my books.  Booooo!

HONORABLE MENTION(S): Nikolai Khabibulin (He was caught out of his crease a few times.  As good as he's been lately, he wasn't all that hot tonight.)

-------------------

OUR GAME SUMMARIES

Smokin' Ray - That was a much better game from the Oilers.  It was their effort level.  They actually had one.  It's about freaking time.  It's kind of sad when you realize that Reddox was the hit leader on this team tonight.  Seriously, what kind of damage could he really do?  Habby (I seen it on his helmet) didn't look great tonight and so it's lucky that the team potted five goals.  But a win is a win and I/we should feel good once again.  GOILERS!

Welcome to Oilers Jambalaya - An Edmonton Oilers Hockey Blog.  Beers & Jeers is a dual collaboration between Smokin' Ray and Paq Twinn.  We hope you enjoy our Edmonton Oilers full game recap.

------------------

- The Duffman is back!  Comrie kicks the flu and gets back in tonight.  That means that Peckham and MacIntyre are watching from the press box.  Staios, Souray, Pouliot and Pisani are still injured.  Pisani did skate today and word is he may play against the Bruins on Saturday.  With people coming back, it makes the cap issues tight.  The Oilers should have hired a juggler.

BAD TIMING PENALTY

None - The only real BTP was the refs not calling any on Colorado.  Twice the Oilers should have had a PP.

------------------

GOAT WATCH

(Smokin' Ray) Ethan Moreau - Baaad!

(Paq Twinn) Robert Nilsson - Baaad!

------------------
BEERS

Zack Stortini - I liked his vigor tonight.  He played with passion and busted his hump.  If only the rest of the team played like him.  The stats don't reflect his actual play tonight.  I thought that he was good enough for a beer.  Frosty?  Cheers!

Nikolai Khabibulin - Solid, solid, solid!  He kept this team in the game and the team did nothing.  I sure hope we aren't wasting all his good energy on crappy games like this.  The Bulin wall was once again just that.  What else can we say about him?  Great game.  Miller time? Cheers!

HONORABLE MENTION(S): Shawn Horcoff (He actually played pretty good.  He was trying hard.  He did good at being defensive but was really bad on faceoffs.), JF Jacques (He was hitting people and causing a commotion where ever he went.), The 1st Line (Even though they didn't score, they played pretty good.  They just needed to shoot more.)

------------------

JEERS

The Entire Team - Two games in a row and not one goal.  WTF? Boooooo!

Denis Grebeshkov - One giveaway (bull crap! It was way more than that.) and two blocked shots and he was -1.  The worst of the worst two games in a row.  That must suck.  Boooooo!

HONORABLE MENTION(S): Robert Nilsson (Wow. You did squat out there and was a -2.  Does he get sent to the minors first? He's my guess.), Ethan Moreau (Are you our leader?  You could have fooled me.)

-------------------

OUR GAME SUMMARIES

Smokin' Ray - Everyone played pretty average.  It's sick to watch.  The sickest part was the absolute worst referee's ever.  Twice there was a blatant hit from behind and no call.  I wonder if the Oilers could file a complaint?  Not that it's going to change anything.  After watching Pat Quinn in his post game conference he's mad.  And rightfully so.  What else did he say? One Oiler player (he won't say who) has the H1N1 virus and it's confirmed.  Crazy huh?  Who could it be?  Buck up for the next game boys, or the Rexall crowd is going to get pissy.

Paq Twinn - I'm going to make this quick. UNACCEPTABLE. I can handle losses but not like these last two. Injuries or illness aside, getting shutout twice in a row is foul. Get better soon, on and off, the ice.
